Manipur and Sikkim win in NECD Women’s T20 Tournament
The North East Cricket Development Council’s 1st Senior Women’s Interstate Friendship T20 Tournament 2024 saw victories for Manipur and Sikkim at the Pahamsning Cricket Ground in Ri-Bhoi on October 1.
In Group A, Manipur triumphed over Arunachal Pradesh by 3 wickets with 7 balls remaining. Monica Devi Ningthoujam was the standout performer, taking 5 wickets for 13 runs in 4 overs. Arunachal, batting first, posted 101/8 in 20 overs, with Nabam Abhi scoring 23 and Nabam Yapu adding 21 not out.
Despite a shaky start at 3/3, Manipur’s Chingkheileima Chanu Mangsatabam’s 32 from 51 balls helped secure the win. Sarpik Ligu was Arunachal’s best bowler with 3/13.
In Group B, Sikkim defeated Nagaland by 4 wickets with 8 balls to spare. Samayita Roy Prodhan led the chase with a brilliant 55 off 43 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Nagaland, batting first, managed 103/3 in 20 overs, with Sentilemla Imsong scoring 33 not out and Limatola Ao contributing 21 not out. Pramila Limboo took 2/17 for Sikkim. Anjeel Lepcha’s unbeaten 18 from 14 balls helped Sikkim reach the target.
On October 2, Meghalaya will face Manipur at 9 am, followed by Sikkim versus Mizoram at 12:30 pm. These matches will determine the semifinalists, with Meghalaya and Mizoram both seeking their first wins of the tournament.
