Manipur favoured Himanta over Conrad as BJP won 32 seats
The Assembly Election in Manipur was more of a battle of wits between Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma as both of them campaigned aggressively for their respective party.
But now the prediction of the Assam Chief Minister on Thursday came true as the BJP are placed in comfortable position by the electorates to form the Govt in Manipur without the support of the NPP.
In a verdict passed by the people of Manipur, out of the total 60 assembly seats, the Bharatiya Janata Party won 32 seats and became the single largest party.
While, three seats went to independent candidates and the Congress party was reduced to mere five seats.
The Janata Dal (United) bagged six seats while Kuki People’s Alliance got two seats and the Naga Peoples Front managed to win five seats.
Despite the aggressive campaigning by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, the National People’s Party managed to clinch seven seats.
