The BJP state vice president and district in-charge of South Garo Hills, John Manner Marak on Tuesday resigned from the post citing that strengthening of the party in Garo Hills region is a “distant dream”.
“I do hereby tender my resignation as state vice president and district in-charge of South Garo Hills today. I will still work for the nation and for the party as a member dedicatedly,” Marak said in his letter to the BJP state president Ernest Mawrie.
He said that the leaders in Garo Hills often discussed how to strengthen the party and produce more BJP MLAs from the region in the coming 2023 general elections adding such proposal or suggestions cannot be taken as anti-party activity, it is the opinion.
“Inspite of sincere and honest work of the Garo Hills party leaders, the state office at Shillong disbelieve…and circulated a strong order and framed new rules meant for Garo Hills region,” Marak rued.
The leader said in a political party, there should be an inner party democracy and to give free-hand to organize and strengthen the party in Garo Hills region. “Now, there is no more scope of free-hand to organize and strengthen the party in Garo Hills region. The strengthening of BJP party in Garo Hills is now a distant dream,” Marak stated in the letter.
