Marwari Yuva Manch sets up COVID Care Unit at Keating Road
The Marwari Yuva Manch, Shillong (MYM) in association with the Marwari Samaj on Thursday handed over the COVID Care Unit and Quarantine Centre to the health department for effective tackling of COVID-19 pandemic.
The Unit at Balika Vidyalaya School, Keating Road was inaugurated by Health Minister Alexander Laloo Hek in presence of Mission Director of NHM, Meghalaya Ram Kumar.
“This 32 bedded facility will be managed and governed by NHM, Meghalaya. The unit will treat patients with mild to moderate COVID infection,” MYM president Piyush Ajmera said.
Ajmera also informed that MYM has undertaken setting up the infrastructure required for the centre and they will also provide food for the patients & medical staff on daily basis and will undertake any other non-medical work for running of the unit.
The centre was envisaged by MYM looking at the rising number of cases in the East Khasi Hills district and to support the state government’s efforts in controlling the pandemic.
Marwari Yuva Manch, Shillong is a voluntary organization. Its primary goal is to support young people in contributing to their community and country.
During the second wave of the pandemic MYM has undertaken projects like distribution of Masks and delivery of freshly prepared food along with requested medicines to home isolated Covid 19 positive patients and their families.
