MDA Govt gifted Raliang with Fire Service & Emergency Station
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday unveiled the plaques to lay the foundation for setting up of Fire & Emergency Service Station, Raliang, the Chief Minister also inaugurated the Greater Raliang Water Supply Scheme, Raliang and Wayside Amenities under Swadesh Darshan Scheme Ministry of Tourism at Raliang. Minister of Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar, Raliang MLA Coming one Ymbon was also present.
The Chief Minister also distributed piglets, poultry Chicks and cheque under FOCUS to the beneficiaries.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, for the past 4 and half years in spite of pandemic, the MDA government has tried to take the state forward. “We have worked tirelessly to ensure that overall infrastructure development comes to different parts of the state and many programs, policies and schemes have been launched” he said.
“As a government, we have realized that if we want to be in the top 10 states and be one of the best, the only way to achieve that Target is by restoring back our farmers, our women folk, our people living in the rural area, and our youth must also move forward. Until unless we are able to uplift the economic level of the farmers and the people in the rural areas, Meghalaya can never be one of the best states in the country,” he added.
The Government has put farmers as one of the top priorities, he informed the largest and the biggest farmer’s welfare program was initiated during this government’s time. Producer groups were form and around 4 and half lakhs families who are into agriculture and other farming activities have been benefited from FOCUS program
Mentioning about Piggery Mission, he said the Government is stressing and putting a lot of emphasis on the piggery mission and the poultry mission to increase meat production in the State and also as means to increase the income of the farmers. With the high demand for pork in the state, he said about 16, 000 metric tons if converted into money is 630 cores worth of pork is consumed in Meghalaya annually. Out of the 630 Cores worth of pork 50 percent of supply comes from outside the state. He said the main purpose of the mission is to bridge the gap between supply and demand in the State.
Various programs like NRLM, Self Help groups where women who are part of different self help groups, 42 thousand groups have been formed. The Government has touched about 400 cores which have been distributed to these different self help groups.
The Chief Minister informed that the Government has started various youth-oriented programs such as Aspire program l, the Prime program, the Yes Meghalaya program to help the youths to be able to take concrete action.
Local MLA, Coming Ymbon expressed his gratitude to the Chief Minister for laying the foundation for setting up of Fire & Emergency Service Station at Raliang which is a long desire of the people of the area and also for inaugurating the Greater Raliang Water Supply Scheme and Wayside Amenities, Raliang.
