MDA using IBDLP for their greed: Mukul
Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma on Tuesday accused the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government of using the Integrated Basin Development and Livelihood Promotion (IBDLP) programme for their “greed”.
“The MDA government tried their level best to demonize the Basin Development Programme. The irony is that the MDA government could not carry forward the programme. With the number of irregularities reflected in the media reports, I was shocked to realize that they had started to use the Basin Development Programme for their greed,” Sangma said.
He was addressing a block committee meeting of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) held at Mawryngkneng here.
Taking a dig at MDA’s misconstrued projection about the Jal Jeevan Mission project for electoral gains, Sangma said, “I was questioned how did the government receive the best performer award for JJM? Maybe the MDA government has started lying to the Government of India as well. Each time before the elections, the MDA government makes it a habit to lie to the people for electoral gains.”
Those present in the meeting were TMC state president Charles Pyngrope, Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh, TMC leaders – James Lyngdoh, Banshanlang Lawai, union president Bansharailang Pyngrope, youth president Fernandez S Dkhar and others.
The party said that with growing support from people, Meghalaya TMC continues to strengthen its base with an unflinching focus on mass outreach. While the NPP-led MDA government chooses to focus on retaining power through a variety of ill schemes, Meghalaya TMC pledges to stand by the people and fulfill their demands as their topmost priority, it said.
