Meat sellers requires Food safety’s license
The office of the Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, West Jaintia Hills, C/o Office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ladthadlaboh, Jowai has directed all Meat Sellers (Poultry, Beef, Pork, Mutton including Fish) to strictly comply to specific Hygienic and sanitary Practices to be followed by the Food Business Operators engaged in manufacturing, processing, storing and selling of Meat and meat products as given in Part IV of the Food Safety and Standard Rules ( Licensing and Registration of Food Business),2011 with effect from 1st August, 2022.
Also, Section 31 (1) & (2) of the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 states about the mandatory Licensing & Registration of persons engaged in Food Business (both Tribals & Non-Tribals for those already in Food Business and those who wish to start one.
Spot fines will be levied by the Designated Officer/ Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, West Jaintia Hills against Petty Business defaulters as empowered in Order, dated 10th January, 2022 after falling to comply with the Notice served to them.
Any further contravention of the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006 Rules will attract action against all defaulters as per Section 55. 56. 58 & 63 of the Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006.
