Medal glory: East Khasi Hills dominates, West Jaintia Hills and Ri-Bhoi follow at Meghalaya Games
As of Day 5 at the 6th Meghalaya Games 2025 held in Jowai, East Khasi Hills has surged to the top of the medal tally with an impressive total of 318 medals, as of January 24. This dominant performance includes 125 gold, 82 silver, and 111 bronze medals, showcasing the district’s exceptional talent and competitive spirit across various sports disciplines.
East Khasi Hills athletes have excelled in multiple sports, ranging from Athletics and Swimming to Gymnastics and Wrestling. Their dedication and rigorous training have truly paid off, allowing them to set a high bar for the competition.
Trailing behind in second place, West Jaintia Hills has also put up a commendable performance, securing a total of 91 medals, which consists of 30 gold, 24 silver, and 37 bronze. The district’s athletes have shown remarkable determination and skill, contributing significantly to their medal tally and making their presence felt across various events.
In third place, Ri-Bhoi district holds an impressive tally of 85 medals, which includes 20 gold, 30 silver, and 35 bronze. The athletes from Ri-Bhoi have exhibited consistent effort and competitive spirit, proving themselves to be formidable contenders in the games.
