MeECL to impose load shedding from April 24
The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) will resort to a three hourly load shedding in the entire state from April 24, 2021 till further notice.
According to an official communique issued from the office of Power Minister James PK Sangma, “The load shedding is unfortunate due to the shortage of power caused by the maintenance shutdown of 1 unit of the OTPC Palatana Power Station and delayed monsoons in Meghalaya resulting in a shortfall of 2-2.5 MU per day, we are resorting to load shedding commencing from midnight tonight.”
He also said that keeping in mind the present examinations taking place in the State, the Corporation have tried to minimize the inconvenience caused to students by limiting the load shedding to 3 hours.
