Hi Dilsera, Please introduce yourself to the readers
Hi, I am Dilsera Rangsa Marak. I am a hard-working and passionate Fashion designer and founder of “JAMA KADI”. I seek to contribute my skills and design aesthetic to assist in creating stylish, saleable fashion. A fast learner and eager to challenge myself, I aspire to continually grow and further develop my talents within the fashion industry.
Tell us about your business.
I started JAMA KADI on 22 February 2021. My products are unique with the highest quality and my designs are sophisticated, fresh, badass, and exciting. I also create wedding dresses between traditional, contemporary, and everyday clothing.
What was your idea behind the name JAMA KADI? And what inspired you to start your startup?
The name “JAMA KADI” derives from the Atong dialect. The Atong is considered a subdivision of the Garos, they are not counted as a separate ethnic or linguistic community, the Atongs are considered to belong to the Garo Tribe however they speak a distinct language.
The meaning of Jama means Garments and kadi means fabric. I gave the brand name JAMA KADI to carry my father’s dialect legacy within us, who has gone to be with the lord. It’s the words that excite and haunts me at the same time. What inspired me most to start this business is because I love fixing and tailoring clothes, sewing, designing garments, and pattern making and I thought to myself that I can earn more income by taking this business further.
What is the main goal of your startup?
- To uplift the urban and rural population
- To alleviate poverty in the locality
- To manufacture garments based on consumer demand
- To provide high-quality products at competitive rates
- To provide employment opportunities for rural and urban women as well as men.
Any wow moment you’d like to share with the readers.
Moments, when my customers create deeper loyalty and delight, is what I consider a wow moment. In my case most of the time when new or old customers come with an order of customized dresses, they tell me that my created garments are very comfortable and elegant. This really makes my day and keeps me motivated to continue my work.
What are your future plans?
We’re on a mission to produce sustainable products. All my products are hand-picked, everyday clothing, and unique with the highest quality fashion at reduced costs to both you and the environment. I will compromise on this and use only the finest fabric for your wardrobe staples.
