Mega Camp and Free Medical Camp held in East Jaintia Hills District
As part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav, Pan India Legal Awareness and Outreach Programme the District Legal Services Authority, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat in collaboration with the District Administration, East Jaintia Hills District, Khliehriat on Thursday organized a Mega Camp cum Free Medical Camp at Iapmala village.
553 numbers of people benefited from the Health Camp and 77 people got themselves vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus. The camp also provided free medical checkup, Covid-19 Vaccination, MHIS Registration, Immunization/ OBG-GY for women and Children and Counselling (Adolescent/ICTC/Mental Health) etc.
Stalls were also set up for an exhibition of schemes and services provided by various departments of the District which includes the District Legal Services Authority, Khliehriat, Election Department, Education Department, National Informatics Centre (NIC), Water Resource Department, Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Jaintia Hills District, Office of the District Agriculture Officer, Office of the District Horticulture Officer, Office of the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Officer, Office of the Superintendent of Fisheries among others.
While addressing the gathering, E Kharmalki Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills said that “The Mega Camp is one programme that is conducted with the objective of exhibiting and displaying the various welfare and developmental schemes implemented by the Government that the citizens can avail, based on the eligibility and criteria required as per the guidelines of the Government.”
He also urge the eligible citizens to take the vaccination drive seriously and get vaccinated against the virus as it is the only way to protect everyone and prevent further spread of Covid-19 infections in the future.
District and Session Judge Cum Chairman District Legal Services Authority C Dkhar informed that many programmes have been organized by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) with the objective to provide free legal services which is free of cost to the poor and needy who cannot afford the services of a lawyer for the conduct of a case or legal proceedings. She also informed that the DLSA is also monitoring the implementation of government welfare schemes so as to ensure that the services and benefits reach the beneficiaries at a faster pace.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner also handed over Work Orders to the functionaries of Iapmala VEC, Suchen Rim VEC and Suchen Dhana VEC for the implementation of projects under MGNREGA Scheme which falls under Khliehriat C& RD Block. Work orders were also handed over by the District and Session Judge, East Jaintia Hills District, C Dkhar to 19 beneficiaries of PMAY-G Scheme belonging to Iapmala and Lumshken Village. Relief funds were also distributed to the victims of Natural Calamities in the District.
