Meghalaya: 1 more dies of COVID-19, 128 patients recovered
One more person has died of COVID-19 taking the death toll to 131 in the state on Tuesday.
54-year-old Basanti Das, a resident of Oakland road, Shillong passed away at the Shillong civil hospital on Monday, Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said.
“She was admitted on December 10 but declared dead at 8.10 am on Monday. The cause of death was due to cancer tongue with metastasis with Covid-19 pneumonia,” he said.
Meanwhile, 128 patients have recovered from the viral infection while 66 new cases have been detected on Tuesday.
Dr War said the recovered patients include 112 from East Khasi Hills district, 11 West Garo Hills district, 2 South West Garo Hills district, 1 East Jaintia Hills district, 1 Ri Bhoi district and 1 West Khasi Hills district.
Of 66 fresh cases, he said 57 are from East Khasi Hills, 4 West Garo Hills, 2 East Jaintia Hills, 1 Ri Bhoi, 1 South Garo Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
Those tested positive also include 5 armed force/paramilitary force personnel, 2 health workers and 11 high risk contacts.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,007 COVID-19 cases out of which 690 are active cases, 12,186 recovered and 131 deaths.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 402 positive cases, West Jaintia Hills 120, West Garo Hills 59, Ri Bhoi 49, South West Garo Hills 15, East Garo Hills 14, East Jaintia Hills 9, West Khasi Hills 7, North Garo Hills 7, South Garo Hills 6 and South West Khasi Hills 2.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,69,808 persons have been tested of which 2,56,801 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 71,962 entrants from outside the state.
