Meghalaya | 1098 cases of lockdown-curfew violation
The state police have recorded 1,098 cases across the state and collected Rs 9.48 lakh in fines for flouting lockdown related rules.
Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters on Wednesday that over 254 people have been arrested for violation of the national lockdown and curfew imposed by the government in view of COVID-19 pandemic. He said a total of 84 first information reports (FIRs) have also been filed against such violators.
“Fines of Rs 9.48 lakh was collected during the period from March 24 till May 4,” the minister informed.
According to him, 51,627 people were also screened in 15 police check points.
Stating that the government has recently decided to partially lift the curfew in the state, Rymbui however urged the citizens to strictly follow the laid down protocols including social distancing to prevent spread of the virus.
“The returnees are also requested to refrain from violating the quarantine protocols and to immediately report in case they have any symptoms,” he said.
