Meghalaya: 13 factory workers among 60 new COVID-19 cases
Thirteen factory workers in East Jaintia Hills district were among the 60 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said three health workers including two from East Garo Hills and 1 from East Khasi Hills district were also tested positive for the virus.
Of the 60 new cases detected, Dr War said 25 are from East Khasi Hills district, 13 from East Jaintia Hills district, 7 East Garo Hills district, 6 West Garo Hills district, 4 West Jaintia Hills district, 2 Ri Bhoi district, 2 South West Garo Hills district and 1 West Khasi Hills district.
The state has also recorded recovery of 72 COVID-19 patients, taking the total recoveries to 8,752 on Wednesday.
These include 34 from East Khasi Hills, 26 West Garo Hills, 3 East Garo Hills, 3 Ri Bhoi, 3 West Jaintia Hills, 2 West Khasi Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
The state has detected a total of 9,801 COVID-19 out of which 959 are active cases, 8,752 recovered and 90 deaths.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 330 positive cases that include 25 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 305 civilians, Ri Bhoi 257, West Garo Hills 140, West Jaintia Hills 87, East Garo HIlls 54, East Jaintia Hills 39, North Garo Hills 16, West Khasi Hills 14, South Garo Hills 11, South West Garo Hills 8 and South West Khasi Hills 3.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,05,879 persons have been tested of which 1,96,078 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 54,985 entrants from outside the state.
