Meghalaya: 14 more die of COVID-19, toll at 1,147
The state on Friday recorded 14 COVID-19 related deaths, pushing the death toll to 1,147 in the state.
According to Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War, 8 were reported from East Khasi Hills district, 3 Ri Bhoi Hills district, 2 West Garo Hills district and 1 West Jaintia Hills district.
Dr War said the state has also detected 515 new COVID-19 cases.
These include 184 in East Khasi Hills, 132 West Khasi Hills, 55 West Garo Hills, 52 Ri Bhoi, 49 West Jaintia Hills, 10 East Garo Hills, 10 North Garo Hills, 7 East Jaintia Hills, 2 South Garo Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
Dr War also informed that 560 persons have recovered from the viral infection.
Of these, 235 East Khasi Hills, 135 West Garo Hills, 66 West Jaintia Hills, 36 West Khasi Hills, 17 East Garo Hills, 11 North Garo Hills, 10 South Garo Hills, 10 South West Garo Hills, 34 East Jaintia Hills, 6 Ri Bhoi and 0 South West Khasi Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 68,107 COVID-19 cases out of which 5,515 are active cases, 61,445 recovered and 1,147 deaths.
With 2,125 active COVID-19 cases, East Khasi Hills, that includes state capital Shillong, is the worst affected district in the state, followed by West Khasi Hills with 860 and West Garo Hills with 728 cases.
There are 584 cases in Ri Bhoi, 548 West Jaintia Hills, 280 South West Khasi Hills, 108 East Jaintia Hills, 83 North Garo Hills, 75 East Garo Hills, 66 South Garo Hills and 58 South West Garo Hills.
