Meghalaya: 2 more dies of COVID-19, death toll rises to 141
The death toll due to COVID-19 went up to 141, while the active case count was registered at 149 in the state with 25 fresh infections reported on Tuesday.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said two more COVID-19 related deaths were reported today from East Khasi Hills district.
Komal Das (59) from Rilbong and Pandavkuri (49) passed away at the Shillong civil hospital on January 3.
“Das was diagnosed of COVID-19 pneumonia with hypertension with nephropathy while Pandavkuri died due to type 2 diabetes mellitus with pulmonary TB with post COVID-19 pneumonia with sepsis,” Dr War said.
Of the 25 new cases, he said 24 are from East Khasi Hills district and 1 from South Garo Hills district.
Dr War also informed that 12 more patients have recovered from the viral infection of which 5 are from East Khasi Hills, 1 Ri Bhoi and 6 West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 13,506 COVID-19 cases out of which 149 are active cases, 13,216 recovered and 141 deaths.
East Khasi Hills has 115 active cases, Ri Bhoi 12, West Garo Hills 9, West Jaintia Hills 3, West Khasi Hills 3, South West Garo Hills 2, East Garo Hills 1, South Garo Hills 1, North Garo Hills 1.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,90,360 persons have been tested of which 2,76,973 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 77,272 entrants from outside the state.
