Meghalaya: 2 more dies of COVID-19, death toll rises to 53
Two more persons have died due to COVID-19 on Thursday taking the death toll in the state to 53.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War informed that 164 more persons were tested positive for the viral infection during the past 24 hours, taking the number of active cases up to 1,750 as on date.
86 persons were tested positive for COVID-19 in East Khasi Hills district, 56 from Ri Bhoi district, 13 from West Garo Hills district, 4 from West Jaintia Hills district, 3 from East Jaintia Hills district, 1 each from South Garo Hills district and South West Khasi Hills district.
Out of the 26 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 17 are from East Khasi Hills, 5 from Ri Bhoi, 3 from West Garo Hills and 1 from West Jaintia Hills.
He said 4,001 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.
“Till date, swab samples of 1,53,177 persons have been sent for testing of which 1, 47,375 were found to be negative,” Dr War said.
The state has detected a total of 5,804 COVID-19 out of which 1,750 are active cases, 4,001 recovered and 53 deaths.
East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 1,118 infections, that include 52 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 1,066 civilians, followed by East Jaintia Hills 216, West Garo Hills 173, and Ri Bhoi 154.
In the other districts, 24 cases are in North Garo Hills, 22 in South West Garo hills, 15 in West Jaintia Hills, 11 in East Garo Hills, 9 in West Khasi Hills, 5 in South West Khasi Hills and 3 in South Garo Hills.
