Meghalaya: 3 dies of COVID-19, death toll rises to 85
Three persons have died due to COVID-19, pushing the death toll in the state to 85 on Wednesday.
61 year old Marzina Sangma passed away at the Tura civil hospital on October 26, while 65 year old Taru Lata Mondal and Gopal Saha (56) died at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital on October 27, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said.
He said Sangma died due to COVID-19 with septic shock with paraplegia with polymyositis with kidney injury while Mondal died due to type 2 diabetes mellitus with nephropathy with hypertension with CKD with Covid pneumonia and Saha due to refractory shock with COVID pneumonia with chronic infection with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
The state has also recorded recovery of 134 COVID-19 patients and 90 new cases on Tuesday.
The new cases include 55 from East Khasi Hills district, 19 West Garo Hills district, 6 West Jaintia Hills district, 4 East Garo Hills district, 4 Ri Bhoi district, 1 North Garo Hills district, and 1 South Garo Hills district.
Out of the 134 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 85 from East Khasi Hills, 17 Ri Bhoi, 12 West Jaintia Hills, 10 South Garo Hills, 8 West Garo Hills, 1 East Garo Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
He said 7,777 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.
The state has detected a total of 9,226 COVID-19 out of which 1,364are active cases, 7,777recovered and 85 deaths.
East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 770 infections, that include 18 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 752 civilians, followed by West Garo Hills 173and Ri Bhoi 170.
In the other districts, 94 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 47 in East Garo Hills, 50 in West Khasi Hills, 19 in South Garo Hills, 17 in North Garo Hills, 17 in East Jaintia Hills, 2 in South West Khasi Hills and 5 in South West Garo Hills.
Over 732 persons are undergoing home quarantine and isolation while 325 persons are under institutional quarantine.
“Till date, swab samples of 1,99,611 persons have been tested of which 1,90,385 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 52,627 entrants from outside the state.
