Meghalaya: 39 more tests COVID-19 positive, tally at 1062
Thirty-nine persons tested positive for COVID-19 while 67 patients have recovered from the infection on Sunday. Wth this, the total number of active cases in the state stand at 566.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said of the 39 new cases, 18 are from East Khasi Hills district, 20 from Ri Bhoi district and 1 from East Jaintia Hills.
In Shillong, Dr War informed that 6 are NEIGRIHMS contacts which include a staff nurse, a heath worker of the health department, a lower divisional assistant, a returnee from Nagaland and an attendant, 6 are returnees, 3 are contacts of a positive case in Mawpat cluster, 2 are armed forces personnel and a tourist taxi driver.
He said the cases detected in Ri Bhoi include 7 armed forces personnel, an operator of CMJ Breweries and 12 of his contacts while the case in East Jaintia Hills is a high risk contact of one of the patients from Robert hospital, Shillong.
Asked, Dr War said so far 21 persons including 3 doctors have contracted the infection at the NEIGRIHMS hospital while four have been discharged from the hospital.
The Director of Health Services further informed that 67 more patients have recovered today, taking the total recoveries in the state to 490.
The new recovered cases include 51 BSF troopers and 1 civilian from East Khasi Hills, 13 from East Jaintia Hills and 2 from Ri Bhoi, he said.
Of the 566 active cases in the state, Dr War said East Khasi HIlls has 419 of which 260 are civilians, 91 Border Security Force (BSF) troopers and 68 armed forces personnel.
There are 83 cases in Ri Bhoi, 31 in West Garo Hills, 15 in West Jaintia Hills, 6 in East Jaintia Hills, 6 in West Khasi Hills, 2 in South West Garo Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills, and 2 North Garo Hills.
South West Khasi Hills and East Garo Hills are with zero cases.
So far, the state has registered a total of 1062 positive cases including 6 deaths
