Meghalaya | 43 more tested COVID-19 positive, tally rises to 2,283
Forty-three more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, taking the total active cases in the state to 1,238.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said 26, including 23 high risk contacts, 2 returnees and 1 Armed Forces/Paramilitary Forces (AF/PF), were detected from East Khasi Hills district, 15 from West Garo Hills district, that include 7 AF/PF, 6 returnees, 1 Tikrikilla random test and 1 Phulbari random test and 2 from South Garo Hills district, who are also high risk contacts of positive cases.
Dr War also informed that the total recoveries in the state has increased to 1,035, after 77 more patients, including 37 from West Garo Hills, 21 from East Khasi Hills, 18 from Ri Bhoi and 1 from North Garo Hills, have recovered from the viral infection on Saturday.
He said the high risk contacts, who had tested positive in Shillong today are from Mawbah, Police Reserve, Karikhana, Mawprem, Jhalupara, Nongkseh, Bishnupur, Paltan Bazar, Anjalee, Iewduh and Baniun and those in South Garo Hills are from Chadi Bazar.
Asked, Dr War informed that a total of 12,507 people were tested during the random antigen testing conducted across the state till date, of which 370 came out positive.
Regarding the positive cases in the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital, he informed that 17 patients are asymptomatic while 4 others are symptomatic and falls under the B category while 3 under the C category.
So far, the state has recorded a total of 2,283 positive COVID-19 cases, of which 1,238 are active and 10 have died due to the viral infection.
East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases at 890, which include 620 civilians and 268 AF/PF personnel, followed by West Garo Hills with 136, including 78 AF/PF and 58 civilians, 71 in East Garo Hills, 52 in Ri Bhoi, 44 in West Khasi Hills, 15 in East Jaintia Hills, 13 in South Garo Hills, 12 in North Garo Hills, 3 in South West Garo Hills and 2 in West Jaintia Hills.
As of Saturday, a total of 86,214 samples have been sent for testing of which 83,499 were found to be negative while test results of approximately 432 are awaited. There are 32,009 entrants from outside the state
