Meghalaya: 5 arrested for kidnapping a 55-yr-old man in SWGH
The state police has rescued a 55-year-old man and arrested five of his abductors from West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills.
Abdul Rohim, a resident of Mahendraganj was abducted by a group of miscreants from Rongsang Abagre bridge construction site in South West Garo Hills recently, Assistant Inspector General of Police GK Iangrai said on Monday.
On receipt of the commission of crime a criminal case was registered under relevant provisions of law in Ampati Police Station and a joint team was constituted under SP West Garo Hills, Dr MG Raghvendra Kumar and SP South West Garo Hills, Rituraj Ravi, he said.
“Search operations were launched by the team to rescue the victim and to nab the perpetrators of crime and today the victim was rescued from Dombagre Reserve Forest in South West Garo Hills,” the AIGP said.
Iangrai further informed that the mastermind of the abduction and two of his associates including one juvenile were apprehended from Tura while two of his accomplices were arrested from South West Garo Hills.
“The investigation of the case is in progress and efforts are being put into establishing the facts and circumstances of the case,” he added.
