Meghalaya: 57 more tests positive for COVID-19, tally rises to 11,454
Fifty-seven more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday, taking the total cases to 11,454 in the state.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new cases include 32 from East Khasi Hills district, 9 West Garo Hills district, 5 South West Garo Hills district, 4 South Garo Hills district, 3 West Jaintia Hills district, 2 East Garo Hills district, 1 North Garo Hills district and 1 Ri Bhoi district.
Of the 59 persons who recovered from the viral infection, Dr War said 29 are from East Khasi Hills, 8 West Jaintia Hills, 7 East Garo Hills, 5 South Garo Hills, 5 West Garo Hills, 3 East Jaintia Hills, 1 North Garo Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 11,454 COVID-19 cases out of which 893 are active cases, 10,451 recovered and 110 deaths.
Dr War said the fatality rate due to COVID-19 is 0.96 percent.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 436 positive cases, West Garo Hills 238, South Garo Hills 50, East Garo Hills 40, South West Garo Hills 39, Ri Bhoi 31, West Khasi Hills 27, East Jaintia Hills 16, West Jaintia Hills 6 and North Garo Hills 10.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,32,602 persons have been tested of which 2,21,148 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 62,509 entrants from outside the state.
