Meghalaya: 68 more tests positive for COVID-19
Sixty-eight more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, taking the total cases to 11,581 in the state.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said the new cases include 50 from East Khasi Hills district, 10 West Garo Hills district, 4 Ri Bhoi district, 2 South West Garo Hills district, 1 North Garo Hills district and 1 West Jaintia Hills district.
He said those tested positive also include 6 armed forces/paramilitary forces personnel that include 3 from East Khasi Hills and 3 from West Garo Hills, and four health workers from Ri Bhoi.
Of the 36 persons who recovered from the viral infection, Dr War said 29 are from East Khasi Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 2 Ri Bhoi, 1 North Garo Hills, 1 West Garo Hills and 1 South West Garo Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 11,581 COVID-19 cases out of which 947 are active cases, 10,524 recovered and 110 deaths.
Dr War said the fatality rate due to COVID-19 is 0.95 percent.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 466 positive cases, West Garo Hills 258, South Garo Hills 50, South West Garo Hills 39, East Garo Hills 32, Ri Bhoi 33, West Khasi Hills 28, East Jaintia Hills 17, West Jaintia Hills 15 and North Garo Hills 9.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,35,838 persons have been tested of which 2,24,257 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 63,432 entrants from outside the state.
