Meghalaya: 72 more tested COVID-19 positive, tally at 1,186
Seventy-seven more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 while 83 patients have recovered on Wednesday taking the total active cases to 1,186 and total recoveries in the state to 1,318.
Of the new cases, 41 were detected from East Khasi Hills district, 16 from Ri Bhoi district, 9 from East Jaintia Hills district, 6 from West Garo Hills district, 3 from South Garo Hills and 2 from East Garo Hills district.
Dr War said the cases in East Khasi Hills include two staff nurses and a fourth grade employee of the Ganesh Das hospital and three security guards of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong, 28 high risk contacts, 2 severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases, 1 influenza like illness (ILI) case, 2 returnees and 1 Armed Forces personnel while 14 are high risk contacts and 2 Armed Forces in Ri Bhoi.
He informed that of the 83 new recovered cases, 68 are from East Khasi Hills that include 59 civilians and 9 AF-PF personnel, 6 from West Garo Hills, 5 from Rib hoi and 4 from East Jaintia Hills.
In all, East Khasi Hills has the highest number of active cases at 813 which include 612 civilians and 201 AF-PF personnel, followed by West Garo Hills with 118 cases, 83 in East Garo Hills, 71 in Ri Bhoi, 45 in West Khasi Hills, 23 in East Jaintia Hills, 19 in South Garo Hills, 9 in North Garo Hills, 3 in South West Garo Hills and 2 in West Jaintia Hills.
The state has so far recorded a total of 2517 COVID-19 cases of which 13 have died due to the viral infection.
As of Wednesday, a total of 92,453 have been tested of which 89,162 were found to be negative while test results of 774 are awaited. There are 32,994 entrants from outside the state.
