Meghalaya: 97 more test positive for COVID-19, tally rises to 12,164
Ninety-seven more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday taking the total cases in the state to 12,164.
Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman War said the new cases include 82 from East Khasi Hills district, 9 West Garo Hills district, 5 West Jaintia Hills district and 1 Ri Bhoi district.
Those tested positive also include 34 from Madanryting cluster, 9 armed force/paramilitary force personnel and 4 returnees from East Khasi Hills.
Of the 73 persons who recovered from the viral infection, Dr War said 51 are from East Khasi Hills, 11 West Garo Hills, 7 Ri Bhoi, 2 East Garo Hills, 1 South West Garo Hills and 1 West Jaintia Hills.
So far, the state has detected a total of 12,164 COVID-19 cases out of which 654 are active cases, 11,392 recovered and 118 deaths.
Dr War said the fatality rate due to COVID-19 is 0.97 percent.
Of the total active cases, East Khasi Hills has 385 positive cases, West Garo Hills 150, East Garo Hills 27, West Jaintia Hills 26, Ri Bhoi 23, South West Garo Hills 15, West Khasi Hills 9, North Garo Hills 8, East Jaintia Hills 5, South West Khasi Hills 4 and South Garo Hills 2.
“Till date, swab samples of 2,52,594 persons have been tested of which 2,40,430 were found negative,” the senior medical official said.
There are 67,762 entrants from outside the state.
