Meghalaya: A Tripura woman dies of COVID-19, death toll rises to 81
A woman from Tripura died of COVID-19, taking the death toll in the state to 81 on Sunday.
27-year-old Manibala Debbarma of Sayadachara, Kumarghat, North Tripura passed away at the North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) on Friday afternoon. She was admitted on October 19, Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said.
“The cause of death was due to refractory septic shock with severe sepsis, COVID positive with auto immune haemolytic anaemia with chronic kidney disease,” he said.
Dr War also said since the patient was tested positive in Shillong, hence death counted in Meghalaya.
The state has also recorded 136 new cases and recovery of 104 COVID-19 patients on Sunday.
The new cases include 76 from Ri Bhoi district, 39 East Khasi Hills district, 8 West Garo Hills district, 7 East Jaintia Hills district, 3 North Garo Hills district, 1 South Garo Hills district, 1 South West Garo HIlls district and 1 West Khasi Hills district.
Out of the 104 recovered COVID-19 patients, Dr War said, 73 are from East Khasi Hills, 9 West Garo Hills, 8 East Jaintia Hills, 5 South Garo Hills, 2 East Garo Hills, 2 North Garo Hills, 2 West Jaintia Hills, 2 West Khasi Hills and 1 Ri Bhoi.
He said 7,332 COVID-19 patients have been discharged as on date.
The state has detected a total of 9,018 COVID-19 out of which 1,605 are active cases, 7,332 recovered and 81 deaths.
East Khasi Hills district tops the list of districts in positive cases with 956 infections, that include 26 Armed Forces and Paramilitary Forces and 930 civilians, followed by Ri Bhoi 234 and West Garo Hills 165.
In the other districts, 84 cases in West Jaintia Hills, 50 in East Garo Hills, 51 in West Khasi Hills, 27 in South Garo Hills, 19 in North Garo Hills, 12 in East Jaintia Hills, 4 in South West Garo Hills and 3 in South West Khasi Hills.
