Meghalaya announces Rs 5 lakh to villages with 100% vaccination
The state government has announced its decision to sanction Rs 5 lakh to each of the villages which achieve 100% vaccination.
A notification issued by the Chief Secretary MS Rao on Thursday said the vaccination drive against COVID-19 has been given prime emphasis alongside other initiatives that have been taken by the government to combat the spread of COVID-19 in the state.
The government also acknowledges the contribution of the communities in the fight against COVID-19.
“Hence, in order to encourage such positive work in the interest of public health, the governor is pleased to order that in convergence with the MGNREGA, the first 100 villages in the state that achieve 100 percent vaccination of eligible population (18 years and above) by August 31, will be sanctioned Rs 5 lakh each by the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority (MBDA) for carrying out any developmental work as may be chosen by the concerned village,” the notification said.
It added that the villages that have already achieved the target and approved by the Health & Family Welfare department will be felicitated during the Independence Day celebrations 2021 in the respective districts and sub-divisions.
