Meghalaya Assembly to hold special session to ratify 126th constitutional amendment
SHILLONG: A special session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held on January 20, for ratification of the Constitution (One Hundred and Twenty Sixth Amendment) Bill, 2019 which relates to the extension of reservation of seats for the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes.
The Bill has been passed by both Houses of Parliament in December, last year and it has now to be ratified by State Assemblies before it is presented to the President for his assent.
This was informed by the Assembly’s Commissioner & Secretary Andrew Simons on Friday.
