Meghalaya Assembly to reassemble from May 20
The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is all set to pass the full budget for the year 2020-21 during the re-assembled budget session to be held from May 20 to 22.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) chaired by the Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh here on Tuesday.
The re-assembled Budget Session of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly will be held from May 20 to May 22, Assembly’s Commissioner & Secretary Andrew Simons informed in a press statement.
He said government business will be on May 20-21 and private members business on May 22.
“The budget estimates for 2020-21 will be passed on May 21,” Simons added.
The state government had tabled a Rs 1,532 crore deficit budget for the financial year 2020-2021 during the budget session held earlier in March. It may be mentioned here that the budget session was adjourned following the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
Earlier, the Assembly had passed only the vote-on-account amounting to over Rs 4,358 crore for defraying several charges for the first three months of the current financial year which is from April 1.
