Meghalaya BJP to submit report to Centre over dome collapse
The central scheme monitoring committee of the BJP has decided to submit a report to the Government of India on the collapse of the dome of the under-constructed Assembly building at Mawdiangdiang.
“We will be submitting a report to the Government of India since it is funded from the central scheme. The speaker (of the Lok Sabha) will also be informed about the incident,” chairman of the committee and former minister AL Hek told reporters after conducting an inspection of the construction site.
He said that responsibilities have to be fixed on the department concerned who are executing or implementing the project and also the contractors.
“I was told they have even given the subcontract to the other contractors so these people have to be booked and have to be punished as per law,” he added.
When asked, Hek said, “Now we have to first find who are involved and who are at fault then only we can demand for the resignations of those concerned authorities.”
On the High Powered Committee’s decision to appoint a third party audit, the BJP leader said that the inquiry has to be fair and they have decided to wait for the report to be submitted by the third party.
