Meghalaya Chief Minister inaugurated Centennial Celebration of Dorbar Shnong Chutwakhu, Jowai
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Centennial Celebration of Dorbar Shnong Chutwakhu, Jowai West Jaiñtia Hills District in Jrisalein Field, Chutwakhu, Jowai on Friday.
Deputy Chief Minister Snaiwbhalang Dhar, MLAs Wailadmiki Shylla and Amlarem MLA Lahkmen Rymbui also attended the programme.
In his address, Sangma acknowledged the contributions of founding leaders of Dorbar Chutwakhu.
He also congratulated the Dorbar Chnong of Chutwakhu for achieving the 100 years milestone, which also celebrates the spirit of community in fostering growth and prosperity in the locality.
The Chief Minister termed the community of Chutwakhu as progressive for leading the way in encouraging women leadership and participation in community welfare as early as 1931.
He also said that Chutwakhu also gave space for youth organizations to thrive since 1934 and added that the coming together of men, women and youth in the community has made it a positive example of the power of community.
Highlighting the importance of community, the Chief Minister stated that the strength of Meghalaya lies in its different communities and urged the community members to work in tandem with the Government to further growth and development in the District and in the state.
