Meghalaya CM assures to take peace talks with HNLC to its logical conclusion
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said the process is on for starting the peace talks with the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC).
Speaking to reporters, Sangma said that the recent arrival of the five leaders of the HNLC was part of the peace process.
“ This is a process. We have to understand that things don’t happen immediately as there are lots of concerns from all sides and which are very genuine of course. Therefore, we need to take all those concerns into mind and then take the talks forward,” he said.
The chief minister said that things are on track.
“We are moving in the right direction and we try to speed up the process as much as possible but as I said we also need to realize that this is a complicated process and we need to take everybody into confidence, build up the confidence as we move along..,” he said.
He said that things have been initiated and exuded “I am very sure and confident that we will be able to take this discussion also to its logical conclusion.”
