Meghalaya CM, deputy CM tests negative for COVID-19
Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma and his staff, who travelled to Delhi and Imphal, arrived in Shillong on Monday and underwent tests for COVID-19.
“CBNAAT test result is negative,” an official of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) said.
The COVID-19 test reports (RT-PCR and CBNAAT) of the Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who had also accompanied the Chief Minister to Delhi, also came out negative.
They will now have to undergo quarantine for 7 days, as per protocols issued by health department.
It may be mentioned here that Power Minister, James K Sangma had tested positive for COVID-19 at Imphal international airport and is now undergoing quarantine in his official residence in Shillong.
According to Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War, people who are close to the minister have been tested and results are awaiting.
Meanwhile, a driver at the Chief Minister’s official residence has tested positive for coronavirus.
Samples of as many as 70 persons in the premises of the CM’s residence have been collected and sent for testing, Dr War informed.
Meanwhile, altogether 41 cases were also detected from the Raj Bhavan. The Governor Satya Pal Malik and his two personal staff, besides one of the ADCs (Aide-de-Camps) to the Governor have tested negative.
