Meghalaya CM gifts Nursing College to people of Jaintia Hills
In a bid to woo the people of Jaintia Hills region to vote for the NPP in the ensuing MDC election, Meghalaya Chief Minister and NPP National President Conrad K Sangma announced the establishment of a Government Nursing College in Jowai the district headquarter of West Jaintia Hills District.
Sangma made this announcement at the 53rd anniversary statehood celebration of Meghalaya Day at District Auditorium, Jowai on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the contributions of Hill State leaders, former Chief Ministers and retired government officials for their service through the years that have paved way for the Meghalaya today.
He also said that the present Government is a government of many firsts- First State Anthem, First State University, First State Emblem, First 5Star Hotel and also stated that infrastructure development in the state have progressed informing on the four new 5 Star Hotels in the state.
Sangma informed the gathering about the foundation laying of the historic Meghalaya Secretariat that will enable the expansion of Shillong city in a planned manner.
Launching the Meghalaya State Anthem, Sangma said the revised State Anthem wonderfully celebrates the diversity of Meghalaya’s tribes and their unity.
Sangma called upon the gathering to remember the service of our forefathers who all came together for the future of Meghalaya and encouraged all gathered to continue living and working in harmony, contributing to the progress of Meghalaya for the next 53 years.
Chief Minister handed the Meghalaya Excellence Awards to the outstanding employees of the State Government.
