Meghalaya CM lays foundation for Wahiajer multi sports complex
With the aim to enhance sports infrastructure across Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma laid the foundation for the Wahiajer Multi Sports Complex.
Also present were Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, Sports Minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh, Urban Affairs Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar and MLA Wailadmiki Shylla.
The Project is funded through State Plan Scheme and Sports Authority of India’s Khelo India Infrastructure Scheme and the cost of the project is Rs 24,97,11,000.
Chief Minister asserted that the provision of sports infrastructure will help hone the skills of sporting talents from the area and will encourage the youth of the State to take up sports as a career.
The sports infrastructure would benefit the various Youth, Educational Institutions, Clubs and sports associations in Wahiajer to organize and conduct regular competitions and tournaments.
The elements of this project include the development of an AIFF certified Synthetic Football Turf, AFI certified Synthetic Athletics Track, VIP and Spectator Seating Galleries, Modern Changing Room Facilities, Office Spaces and Circulation Areas.
