Meghalaya CM met Bangladesh commerce minister Tipu Munish
SHILLONG: The state government delegation led by chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday met Bangladesh commerce minister Tipu Munish to discuss the trade opportunities between the two countries.
“Had a fruitful interaction with the commerce minister, Bangladesh Sh. Tipu Munish in presence of officials to chalk out and identify key sectors for promotion of trade and commerce between the two countries,” Conrad tweeted.
During the meeting, it was also resolved that products for trade are identified by both the countries and an MoU is inked for the purpose.
The government of Meghalaya has apprised that immediate tie up with tour operators should be forged to facilitate tourism in both the sides.
A four member team of tour operators from Khasi Jaintia and Garo Hills is part of the delegation who will be holding discussions with tour operators tomorrow in presence of the chief minister in Dhaka.
Improving services for boosting trade through land custom stations between India and Bangladesh were also discussed. High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh Riva Ganguly was also present in the meeting.
Bangladesh Minister sought India and especially Meghalaya’s cooperation to improve power sector, as demand for power is huge in Bangladesh for its growing economy.
