Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Monday said the deputy commissioners have been asked to complete the relief process within the next 24-48 hours for cyclone victims.
Speaking to media persons, Sangma informed that the chief secretary has already taken a review of the entire situation.
“I have been updated and we have given the next 24 hours to 48 hours, which we expect them (DCs) to complete the entire relief process,” he said.
The CM informed that the government had already approved the policy to decentralize the implementation of the relief process since last year.
“So now, the deputy commissioners do not have to come to the state for any kinds of clearance, they can take steps independently decentralized at their own level in terms of distribution of basic relief material as well as different housing support for example CGI sheets to be distributed, those freedom and funds have been given to the deputy commissioners,” he added.
