Meghalaya CM witnesses election of KHADC chairman
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Wednesday visited the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council )KHADC) and witnessed the election to the post of Chairman.
This was for the first time in the history of the KHADC that it welcomed the chief minister to witness the proceedings of the House.
Sangma was received by the KHADC chief executive member (CEM) Titosstarwell Chyne and executive members.
The chief minister witnessed the proceeding of the House during a felicitation ceremony of the chairman from the official gallery inside the session hall.
Two-time member from Sohryngkham Pyniaid Sing Syiem was elected unopposed as the new chairman of the KHADC during the election.
Most of the members were surprised when the chairman informed the House about the presence of the chief minister.
Syiem welcomed the chief minister and said “this will be a historic moment for the district council as no other CM has ever set foot on the district council. Your visit has encourage us a lot…”
