MEGHALAYA COVID-19 | Last patient to be retested for 3rd time
The last COVID-19 patient will again be tested for the third time tomorrow, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed on Monday.
“The samples of the 11th patient will again be collected and send for testing tomorrow. We hope that we also get the report by tomorrow itself,” Tynsong told reporters here.
The last COVID-19 patient, who initially tested negative during the first retest, was tested positive again three days ago.
Tynsong however said that the 10 patients are now negative after they were retested twice for the coronavirus.
On the overall status in the state, the Deputy CM informed that a total of 1884 were collected and sent for testing out of which 1782 were negative while results for 90 tests are awaited.
It may be mentioned here that there has been no fresh cases reported in the state for the past many days.
On the issue of stranded citizens, Tynsong said an effective mechanism to monitor the return of citizens, who are stranded in the North East states, to the state.
“The mechanism will ensure there is no violation of home quarantine by such returnees,” he said while informing that a village health teams (VHTs) have been set up in all districts to assist the government in handling the situation effectively. The VHT will be headed by the village headmen.
He said the government has also circulated the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to all concerned. “All family members of the returnee will be required to be under home-quarantine in case their house has got limited rooms. The government will also extend full support to such families by taking care of their ration and other essential requirements,” the Deputy CM added.
Moreover, Tynsong said a dedicated team of doctors and healthcare volunteers will also be stationed round the clock in the four designated check points set up at Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills, Byrnihat, Ri Bhoi, Bajengdoba, North Garo Hills and Tikrikilla, West Garo Hills for screening all returnees.
It may be mentioned here that the state government has allowed the return of citizens stranded in the NE region from May 5.
