Meghalaya Day observed in Khliehriat

Along with the rest of the state, the 49^th Statehood Day was also celebrated in East Jaintia Hills District today the 21^st of January, 2021. The function was held at the Community Hall, Khliehriat West, East Jaintia Hill District. Hon’ble Minister of Social Welfare Department, Kyrmen Shylla was the Chief Guest of the Function.

The function was also attended by E. Kharmalki, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, S.S Syiemlieh, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, D.M Suja, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, M.S. Sangma, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, the District officers, senior citizen and Government employees.

Addressing on the occasion, Kyrmen Shylla recalling the history of the formation of the state and lauded the leaders from the state who fought tirelessly for achieving the separate state. He further stated that there are still many challenges and issues that people of the district are facing and he urged all the government employees and the people of the district to cooperate with one another, to work hard and dedicate more effort for the betterment of the District.

M.S. Sangma, MCS, Addl. Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District, Roland Suchen (Senior Citizen) and Satly, Ryngkhlem were among other who also spoke during the function.

The Minister handed over Certificates of Appreciation to all the local Headmen of the District for their contribution and continuous support in the fight against COVID -19. A cultural dance was also performed by the students of Jaintia Eastern College, Khliehriat.
