Meghalaya deputy speaker attends conference of CPC in Mizoram
Meghalaya Deputy Speaker Timothy D Shira, and Commissioner & Secretary Dr. Andrew Simons, participated in the 21st Annual Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, India Region, Zone III held in Aizawl, Mizoram on September 27 and 28.
The Conference was inaugurated by Speaker, Lok Sabha, Om Birla, who is also the Chairman of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, India Region.
The topics discussed in the Conference were Inclusion of the North East Region in the India-ASEAN Vision for Trade and Cooperation; and Merging the Ministry of Doner with NEC for better strategic planning and coordination of various projects in the Region.
Timothy D Shira, Deputy Speaker actively participated in discussions on both topics, contributing valuable insights on the region’s future trajectory.
Additionally, Dr. Andrew Simons, Commissioner & Secretary, presented a detailed report outlining the activities and achievements of CPA Region Zone III since the last conference.
Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha, Shri Sharingain Longkumer, Speaker of the Nagaland Assembly and Chairman of India Region Zone – III, Lalbiakzama, Speaker of the Mizoram Assembly, Lalduhoma, Chief Minister, Mizoram, alongside Speakers and Deputy Speakers from the North East region several Members of Parliament (MPs) and Members of Legislative Assemblies (MLAs) were part of the conference.
