Meghalaya education dept to present blueprint on resolving SSA issue next year
The education department is preparing a blueprint on how to go about resolving issues concerning the SSA teachers.
“A complete blueprint is being prepared by the education department and it will be presented before the state government on January 9 or 10, 2025,” education minister Rakkam A Sangma informed on Wednesday.
It may be mentioned here that the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) have been demanding the government to come up with a policy to secure the services of over 13,000 SSA teachers while the All Meghalaya SSA School Teachers Association (AMSSASTA) for enhancement of salary.
Stating that the government is committed to address issues of the teachers, Rakkam said, “The blueprint is being prepared. Of course it is a challenge. However, there is a way when there is a will. So the government is having the will and definitely to some extent we will find the way.”
Asked, the education minister said, “Department knows the challenges and the problems (faced by the teachers) but there are many technical issues, we have to bring to the knowledge of the government and how to go about –If that is to be considered what will be happen and what is the impact because education is connected to all the sectors.”
“So yes, we are preparing our blueprint to present before the government. It may be taken or not but we are doing our exercise on how to find out the best solution as we are not looking at short term solutions, we are looking at long term solutions to resolve the issues once and for all,” he added further.
