Meghalaya: Fifty civilians among 55 new COVID -19 cases
Fifty-five more persons including 50 civilians, have tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, taking the total active cases in the state to 966.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr Aman War said 31, including 29 civilians and 2 armed forces personnel, were detected from East Khasi Hills district.
He said 17 civilians were also tested positive for the virus in West Khasi Hills district, 2 in East Garo Hills district and one each in Ri Bhoi district and West Jaintia Hills district.
Dr War also informed that 14 more persons have recovered from the viral infection that include 10 (9 armed forces personnel and 1 civilian) in Ri Bhoi, 2 in West Khasi Hills , 1 each in West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills. With this, the total number of recoveries in the state has also gone up to 744.
With 602 cases (375 civilians, 119 armed forces, and 108 BSF), East Khasi Hills is the worst hit district in the state followed by West Garo Hills with 221 cases and 92 in Ri Bhoi.
In other districts, West Khasi Hills has 18 cases, 10 in North Garo Hills, 8 in East Jaintia Hills, 5 in West Jaintia Hills, 4 in South West Garo Hills, 2 in South Garo Hills, 3 in East Garo Hills, and 1 in South West Khasi Hills.
