Meghalaya Forest Headquarters close down after visit of suspected Covid person
The Forest Management Building at Lachumiere, Shillong has been temporarily closed for sanitization after one of the staff was suspected to have contracted the COVID-19.
“Since it is a suspected case, all the officers and staff of the…forest divisions as a precautionary measure have preferred to keep themselves isolated at home till the result of the…staff is confirmed and also to facilitate complete sanitization of the whole building…,” Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & HoFF, YS Shullai said in a letter to the Principal Secretary in-charge Forests & Environment department on Thursday.
Shullai informed that a lower division clerk, who was assigned COVID-19 duties at Ladmawreng, East Khasi Hills district had reported back for duty on July 22 despite the fact that he was unwell and had physical contact with other staff of the division and others in the management building.
The building is presently housing four divisions – Territorial Division, Wildlife Division, Training Division and East Khasi Hills Social Forestry Division.
“The divisional forest officer, East Khasi Hills Social Forestry Division has already verbally informed the District Administration of the incident,” Shullai said in the letter.
