Meghalaya Games Boxing: East Khasi Hills shines with 9 gold, West Jaintia Hills earns 3

The 6th Meghalaya Games witnessed a spectacular display of skill and determination as East Khasi Hills (EKH) emerged as the dominant force in the boxing arena, clinching 9 gold medals and securing an impressive total of 30 medals in both the Men and Women categories.

West Jaintia Hills (WJH), the host, and Ri-Bhoi District (RBD) finished with nine and seven medals, respectively. The boxing ring at Chutwakhu Indoor Sports Hall in Jowai became the stage for intense bouts and battles among talented boxers from across Meghalaya.

Men’s Category

48kg Category: Dabetmiki Dhar (WJH) secured the gold, while Daminit Lyngdoh (RBD) claimed the silver. Wilfred Kharmawlong (Eastern West Khasi Hills) and Pynshailang Sohshang (West Khasi Hills) both earned bronze medals.

51kg Category: Khrawbok Marwein (EKH) clinched the gold, with Durlang Dhar (WJH) securing silver. Manav Biswa and Sanjeev Maskut (EKH) took home bronze medals.

54kg Category: Sunil Limbu (EKH) showcased his prowess, winning the gold, while Kapil Burman (RBD) earned the silver. Deibomitre Khonglah (WJH) and Prashant Dorjee (EKH) received bronze medals.

57kg Category: Lamshai Rani (EKH) dominated the category, securing the gold, while Wanshai Shyrkhon (West Khasi Hills) earned silver. Jeremy Gurung and Kiran Sumar Biswa (EKH) claimed bronze medals.

60kg Category: Tusar Gurung (EKH) secured the gold, and Kordor Marwein (EKH) earned silver. Jona Kharkrang and Ram Lyngdoh (EKH) both received bronze medals.

63.5kg Category: Rishanlang Lyngdoh (EKH) won the gold, while Winner Talang (WJH) secured silver. Basilbirth Sangma (East Garo Hills) and Albert Marwein (RBD) claimed bronze medals.

67kg Category: Bhalang Shadap (WJH) emerged as the gold medalist, with Lamphrang Shullai (EKH) securing silver. Daniel Jyrwa (EKH) and Sidarius Syiemlieh (West Khasi Hills) earned bronze medals.

71kg Category: Baiamutlang Sungoh (WJH) showcased his strength, winning the gold, while Lastbirth M Marak (West Garo Hills) secured silver. Aidan-o-Warbah (EKH) and Alan D M Sangma claimed bronze.

75kg Category: Balnas Sangma (West Garo Hills) secured the gold, and Krishna Prasad Gupta (EKH) earned silver. Surojeet Dey and Mankhrawkupar K Lyngksiar (EKH) claimed bronze medals.

Women’s Category

48kg Category: Rosa Maslai (RBD) showcased her exceptional boxing skills, securing the gold medal. Veronica Sohshang (West Khasi Hills) earned the silver, while Sophia N Suchiang and Janvi Chettri (EKH) received bronze medals.

50kg Category: Sonia Tamang (EKH) emerged victorious, with Rozia Nongsiej (EKH) securing the silver. Daffini Khongjee (EKH) and Rikynti Marwein (RBD) shared the bronze medals.

52kg Category: Mellina Basaiamoit (EKH) continued the winning streak, securing the gold. Gabriella Kahit (EKH) clinched the silver, while Tedricia Lamare (WJH) settled with the bronze honors.

54kg Category: Eva Waynie Marbaniang (EKH) bagged gold by dominating the category.
