Meghalaya Games Boxing: East Khasi Hills shines with 9 gold, West Jaintia Hills earns 3
The 6th Meghalaya Games witnessed a spectacular display of skill and determination as East Khasi Hills (EKH) emerged as the dominant force in the boxing arena, clinching 9 gold medals and securing an impressive total of 30 medals in both the Men and Women categories.
West Jaintia Hills (WJH), the host, and Ri-Bhoi District (RBD) finished with nine and seven medals, respectively. The boxing ring at Chutwakhu Indoor Sports Hall in Jowai became the stage for intense bouts and battles among talented boxers from across Meghalaya.
Men’s Category
48kg Category: Dabetmiki Dhar (WJH) secured the gold, while Daminit Lyngdoh (RBD) claimed the silver. Wilfred Kharmawlong (Eastern West Khasi Hills) and Pynshailang Sohshang (West Khasi Hills) both earned bronze medals.
51kg Category: Khrawbok Marwein (EKH) clinched the gold, with Durlang Dhar (WJH) securing silver. Manav Biswa and Sanjeev Maskut (EKH) took home bronze medals.
54kg Category: Sunil Limbu (EKH) showcased his prowess, winning the gold, while Kapil Burman (RBD) earned the silver. Deibomitre Khonglah (WJH) and Prashant Dorjee (EKH) received bronze medals.
57kg Category: Lamshai Rani (EKH) dominated the category, securing the gold, while Wanshai Shyrkhon (West Khasi Hills) earned silver. Jeremy Gurung and Kiran Sumar Biswa (EKH) claimed bronze medals.
