Meghalaya Government fixed fare rates for Shillong-Umroi Airport tourist vehicles
The Government of Meghalaya’s Transport Department has fixed the fare rates for tourist vehicles traveling between Shillong and Umroi Airport.
A notification issued by Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Sanjay Goayal IAS on May 3 said, “The Governor of Meghalaya is pleased to direct all the Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs) in the Meghalaya that the fare for tourist vehicles between Shillong and Umroi Airport shall be fixed as follows with immediat effect and until further orders.”
This directive is issued in continuation of the Department’s Notification No. TPT. 91/80/749 dated 13th January 2020 and in exercise of powers conferred under clause {1} of subsection 67 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988).
Here’s the breakdown of the new rates:
For 4 – 5 Seaters using Petrol/Diesel: Rs. 21 per kilometer, with a total fare of Rs. 1345 for the round trip between Airport and Police Bazar.
For 7 – 8 Seaters using Petrol/Diesel: Rs. 25 per kilometer, totaling Rs. 1600 for the round trip between Airport and Police Bazar.
These rates apply specifically to journeys between Shillong and Umroi Airport.
Other routes will continue to follow the previous fare regulations outlined in the existing Notification No. TPT. 91/80/749, dated 13.01.2020.
