Meghalaya Governor attends Rachnatmak Nonia Sanyukt Sangh function in Assam

Meghalaya Governor, Phagu Chauhan today attended a function organized by the Rachnatmak Nonia Sanyukt Sangh at Bihutoli Khel Maidan, Guwahati. Around 20, 000 people from different district of Assam attended the programme.

During the programme, a memorandum was handed over to the Governor by the organizing committee for the inclusion of the Nonia caste in the OCB category in the State of Assam.

Later in the evening, the Governor met with the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma at Raj Bhavan, Guwahati Assam where he brought to the notice of the Assam Chief Minister on the need to include the “Nonia’ caste in the OBC category. The Assam Chief Minister assured the Hon’ble Governor to look into the matter and take all necessary step to see the fruition of the demand of the people belonging to the Noonia caste residing in Assam, at the earliest.
