Meghalaya Governor hands over Rotary Vocational Excellence Award
The Rotary Vocational Excellence Award 2021 – 2022 was handed over by Satya Pal Malik, Governor of Meghalaya to Hockey Kharumnuid who was felicitated for rendering three decades of voluntary service for traffic regulation in Mawlai Stand Bus; Nicholas J Kharnami in recognition for his service for a green and clean Meghalaya; Dr Bhaskar Borgohain for his excellence in the medical service in the government sector and Shidalin Marbaniang for her outstanding contribution as a first lady entrepreneur in Meghalaya for manufacturing sanitary napkins at a function organised by the Rotary Club of Orchid City Shillong held today at the Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Shillong.
Speaking on the occasion, Satya Pal Malik said that Rotary is known globally for its commitment to serve the world community particularly the less privileged. Rotarians are known for their passion for community service, they have performed well to serve society through their notable humanitarian projects like Polio eradication, Disaster management and others in the field of Education, Health, Sanitation and Hygiene, safe drinking water, women empowerment, youth leadership, peace and conflict resolution and public awareness is highly commendable. He also added that the same can be said of the Rotary club Orchid city Shillong which has dedicated its service since its formation in 2003 towards humanitarian projects in and around Shillong city.
Congratulating the awardees he expressed hope that the prestigious recognition will be a great milestone, which will only encourage them to share their skills and knowledge for the betterment of more and more people. (MIPR)
