Meghalaya govt approves rules for implementation of MRPSA, 2020
The state Cabinet has approved the Meghalaya Rights to Public Services Rules, 2021.
Briefing media persons after the meeting on Thursday, cabinet minister James K Sangma said the rules were framed so that implementation of the various provisions of the Meghalaya Rights to Public Services Act (MRPSA), 2020 can take place.
He said the rules provide procedures for filing appeal to the appellate authority (AA) and the state public services delivery commission (SPSDC), the procedures to be followed by the AA and SPSDC, composition of officers and staff of SPSDC and others.
The Meghalaya Rights to Public Services Act, 2020 was notified on November 24, 2020.

The minister also reminded that the objective of the Act is to provide for the delivery of notified public services to the citizens of the state within the stipulated time limit including liabilities of the government servants in case of default.
Sangma further informed that cabinet has also approved the Meghalaya Housing (Subordinate) Statistical Service Rules, 2020.
He said the rules are meant to regulate the method of recruitment, promotion and service matters of persons appointed to the post of assistant research officer, research assistant and investigation under the Directorate of Housing.
Meanwhile, the recommendations of the standing committee on the inter-state council secretariat regarding the recommendations of the Punchhi Commission were also discussed during the meeting.
Sangma said that there were certain views raised by members of the cabinet and those have been incorporated while adding that the matter will however be further discussed.
