Meghalaya Govt approves setting up of computerized check gates to curb revenue leakages
The state Cabinet has approved the proposal for setting up of computerized check gates in the state to ensure revenue leakages from the transportation of coal and other minerals is prevented.
After the meeting on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong told reporters that the government has decided to authorize the Mining & Geology department to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with a Delhi-based Telecommunication Consultants India Limited (TCIL).
He said the TCIL, which a public sector undertaking of the Government of India, will prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for installation of computerized check gates in respect to movement and transportation of coal and other mineral resources.
“This intention has been there in the mind of the state government for quite sometime to help plug the revenue leakages in different entry-exit points in as far as transportation of minerals in the state is concerned,” Tynsong said.
Asked, the Deputy CM informed that the signing of MoU will take place very soon after receiving the DPR from the TCIL.
